ADMISSIONS & ENROLMENT POLICY
1. Purpose
This policy outlines the criteria, process, and conditions for admission and enrolment at European Montessori College (EMC), ensuring a fair, transparent, and consistent approach.
2. Scope
This policy applies to:
- All applicants and prospective adult learners
- All MACTE-Accredited EMC programmes (unless otherwise specified)
3. Entry Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
3.1 Educational Background or Experience
Applicants must have:
- A minimum of one year of third-level education
OR - A minimum of three years of relevant experience, including:
- Work with children
- Education or teaching
- Social care or related professions
- Relevant life experience, assessed on an individual basis
3.2 Written Submission (Experience-Based Entry)
Applicants applying on the basis of experience must submit a 500-word statement outlining:
- Relevant experience
- Learning gained (personal and professional)
- Motivation for studying Montessori education
Assessment:
- Reviewed by a member of the training staff
- Verified by the College Director or Board of Examiners
3.3 English Language Requirement
Applicants must demonstrate a good standard of English, both written and verbal.
3.4 Supporting Documentation
Applicants must provide:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Copies of academic transcripts/certificates
These must be submitted within one month of application or upon request.
3.5 Police Clearance
- A valid police clearance certificate is required per country regulations
- Must be submitted before commencing practicum or classroom-based modules
3.6 Technical Requirements
Applicants must have sufficient computer literacy to:
- Access and use the online learning platform
- Participate in online learning activities
4. Application Assessment
- Applications are reviewed by EMC staff
- EMC may:
- Request additional information
- Conduct interviews
- Accept or reject applications based on suitability
5. Recognition of Prior Learning & Credit Transfer
EMC recognises that applicants may have completed prior study or training with other providers.
5.1 Eligibility
Applicants who have partially completed a relevant programme may apply for credit transfer or exemption.
- Prior study must be relevant to the EMC programme
- EMC training should normally commence within ten years of the start date of the original programme
5.2 Application Process
Applicants must provide:
- Evidence of completed coursework
- Course outlines or syllabi (where available)
- Any relevant certifications or transcripts
An Application and Processing fee will apply.
5.3 Assessment
- Applications are reviewed by the Pedagogical Leader
- Prior learning is compared against EMC programme requirements
- Assessment is conducted on an individual basis
5.4 Outcomes
Where sufficient equivalence is demonstrated:
- Exemptions may be granted for specific modules or components
- Applicants may be required to complete additional elements where gaps are identified
All decisions are:
- At the discretion of EMC
- Based on maintaining academic and professional standards
5.5 Limitations
- Not all prior learning will qualify for exemption
- EMC reserves the right to determine the extent of credit awarded
6. Offer of Admission
Successful applicants will receive a formal offer of admission confirming:
- Acceptance onto a programme
- Conditions required for enrolment
7. Enrolment & Formation of Contract
A binding adult learner contract is formed when:
- The applicant confirms acceptance in writing (email)
- Payment of programme fees is received
Only after both steps:
- Enrolment is confirmed
- A study place is secured
8. Terms of Study
EMC agrees to:
- Deliver the programme as described
- Provide access to learning systems and materials
- Deliver training within the agreed timeframe
Programme duration:
- Begins from the confirmed enrolment date
- Must be completed within the specified time limit
9. Acceptance of Terms & Conditions
By enrolling, students confirm acceptance of:
- EMC Terms and Conditions
- Refund and withdrawal policies
- Programme time limits
These form part of the student contract.
10. Post-Enrolment Requirements
After enrolment:
- Students receive login details for the learning platform
- Students must upload:
- CV
- Proof of highest educational attainment
- Photo identification for verification
11. Language of Instruction
- All programmes are delivered primarily in English but trainers may deliver parts of the programme in another language based on the needs of the adult learner group
- Students must be proficient in written and spoken English
12. Mode of Delivery & Attendance
- Programmes are delieverd both online and in-person
- Certain elements require in-person attendance, including:
- Workshops
- Practical training
- Practicum
- Examinations

Other centres: as published on the website
13. Fees, Invoicing & Payment
- An invoice will be issued upon acceptance
- Payment must be made within specified deadlines
- Refunds and withdrawals are governed by official Terms and Conditions
14. Conditional Enrolment
EMC may apply conditions where:
- Documentation is outstanding
- Requirements are not fully met
Progression may be restricted until conditions are fulfilled.
15. Right to Refuse or Withdraw
EMC reserves the right to:
- Refuse admission
- Withdraw an offer
- Terminate enrolment
In cases of:
- Misrepresentation
- Failure to meet requirements
- Breach of policies
